Waste Networks Metric

The Waste Networks metric dashboard highlights users whose waste behavior is unusual compared to their peers by looking across metrics from all waste transactions at the facility, then creating a normalized behavior profile and comparing each user to that normalized profile. Each care area has its own Waste Networks metric dashboard, which calculates scores for each user, and lets ControlCheck users drill down and view a user's waste network, including other users who have witnessed the selected user waste, as well as additional users who have also wasted with other members of the network. ControlCheck users can use the application's display to narrow down areas of greater risk and focus investigative energies.

Access the Dashboard

Navigate to the Analyze tab in the main dashboard menu and then select User Analytics in the drop-down menu. This will forward you to the IRIS Dashboard where you can then select the Waste Networks Metric link to view its dashboard.

Filters

The Waste Networks metric dashboard includes the following filters:

  • Start Date - allows you to select a start date for your data
  • End Date - allows you to select an end date for your data
  • Department  - allows you to select one or multiple departments to pull data from
  • Search Users - allows you to search for a specific user by name within the provider panel
Note
The Department filter is only available when accessing Nursing metric dashboards. You will not see it as an option within the OR's Waste Networks dashboard.

Interact with the Dashboard

All users in the selected care area are displayed and sorted by their outlier ranking for the previous 30 days, with the most unusual users given a red exclamation point on their user card. ControlCheck users can select a user from the list on the left of the screen to view that user's detailed waste network, displayed on the right side of the screen, along with explanations of any specific unusual activity. Users can also view and select users from the entire facility network on the bottom right of the screen. You'll also notice that the default date range for all dashboards is the previous 30 days.

Investigate the Data

To view the specific, detailed waste events, first select a specific user, then select the Click to Investigate link in the detailed user view. All of the relevant waste events from that user will load in a new browser tab. On the Investigate Data page, you can review, download, and make notes on the event summaries displayed. You can also download a Summary or Detailed Transaction Report depending on the amount of data you need to review.
