User Mobility Metric Overview

User Mobility

The User Mobility metric dashboard highlights patterns in documentation from specific users across departments and identifies any users whose behavior across departments stands out from their peers. The dashboard allows the user to trace outliers whose documentation patterns are different than other users who primarily work in the same department or departments, and pinpoint what types of transactions are being documented in each department. ControlCheck users can use the application's display to narrow down areas of greater risk and focus investigative energies.

Access the Dashboard

Navigate to the Analytics tab in the main dashboard menu and select User Analytics in the dropdown menu. This will forward you to the IRIS Dashboard where you can then select the User Mobility Metric link to view its dashboard.

Filters

The User Mobility metric dashboard allows for the following filters:

  • Start Date - allows you to select a start date for your data
  • End Date - allows you to select an end date for your data

The default date range for all dashboards is the previous 30 days.

Interact with the Dashboard

Users are sorted by how unusual their movement patterns are compared to users who also primarily work in the same department or departments. Outliers are identified with a red exclamation mark next to their names. Selecting a user from the list on the left side of the screen will display that user's detailed view, highlighting the user's transactions from each department, including dispense, admin, waste, and return transactions.

Users can also view the scatter plot graph below the detailed user view, containing a view of all users in the nursing care area, grouped and color-coded by primary department. Just like selecting from the list on the left of the screen, selecting a specific dot from the scatter plot, representative of a single user, will also display that user's detailed view above.

Investigate the Data

From the detailed user view, select the Click to Investigate link to view all of the relevant medication events from that user; the results will load in a new browser tab.

A Note on the Data & Methods

All patient-medication event summaries are included for analysis in this dashboard, regardless of their status or outcome, except for open variances created within the preceding three days.

Any event summaries connected to unmapped identifiers (medication, user), regardless of status or state, are excluded from the counts in this dashboard. Once mapping is completed and the related data is processed, the resulting event summaries will be included in any relevant metrics.
