Full Package Waste Metric
The Full Package Waste metric dashboard highlights patterns in medication handling; specifically those instances where the entire contents of a package are wasted. You can utilize the application's display to narrow down areas of greater risk and focus your investigative energies.
Access the Dashboard
Navigate to the Analyze tab in the main dashboard menu and then select User Analytics in the drop-down menu. This will forward you to the IRIS Dashboard where you can then select the Full Package Waste link to view its dashboard.
Filters
The Full Package Waste metric dashboard allows for the following filters:
- Start & End Date - triggers a calendar that allows you to select both a start and end date for your search
- Standard Deviation - None; +1, +2, 3, +4 standard deviations from the norm
- Department - allows you to select one or multiple departments / Available for Nursing only
- Drug - displays a list of drugs available for analysis / The drugs are grouped at the generic + form factor level.
The default date range for all dashboards is the previous 30 days. Selecting a standard deviation filter will filter the results to show only data that is equal to or greater than the threshold selected.
Understand the Key
The Count of Full Packages Wasted within the selected view and for the selected medication(s) is indicated by the length of the bar.
Interact with the Dashboard
You should first select a date range and any additional desired filters to reflect the nature of the investigative question or to limit the scope.
Investigate the Data
To view the specific, detailed events included in a user's results, first select the specific user for analysis. Once a user is selected, the pop-up window with the user's summary statistics will appear. Click Investigate Data in the user summary box to view all of the relevant medication events from that user; the results will load in a new browser tab.
Event Summaries
When you view event summaries that fed into a user’s Full Package Waste score on the Investigate Data page, you will notice the Full Packages Wasted column. This column displays the total count of full packages wasted for the event summary at the top level and displays a count on each individual waste event that is one or more full packages wasted. For example, if there are two unique waste events that each waste one package, you will see a 1 on each waste event row and a 2 at the top-level count. If there are two partial waste events that are part of an integrated waste workflow, you will see a decimal amount like 0.5 on each partial waste event and a 1 at the top-level count.
Note: This column is only visible on the Investigate Data page when viewing event summaries and is not displayed on the Audit page.
