Enhancements to the Investigation Collaborator Drop-down

Search Added

To help you find the collaborator name you need quickly, we added a search to the collaborator drop-down. Start typing the first or last name of the user collaborator you wish to add to the investigation. We alphabetized the list of names for a quick scan of who to add.

Enhancements to Patient Care Audit Page Performance

In this release, we were able to pinpoint an issue with the Assignment user name drop-down on the event-summary-edit panel that was causing a serious delay in users’ experience. For large sites that have over 150+ ControlCheck users, the Assignment drop-down that is loading all of the users’ names that can be assigned to an event summary was creating a lag in performance. We were able to optimize this system logic to improve the application speed while users work on the Audit page. The Assignment filter needs to load all the user names when the edit panel opens so this lag was impacting any user that would interact with the event-summary-edit panel.

We also made a minor enhancement to the Departments and Users filters on the Audit page so that the page can load event summaries more quickly.

Rename of the IV Form Factor to Infusion App-Wide

ControlCheck is currently beta testing controlled infusion drips with some customers so we soft-launched a new form factor in the application that we named IV. This was causing confusion for Manager and Admin users when manually mapping medications because IV, aka intravenous, is a common route for many injectable and drip meds. We wanted to make sure we could clearly distinguish between the Injectable and Infusion form factors because they have different reconciliation logic in our Patient Care Audit workflow so we updated the name of the form factor be called Infusion. The Infusion dosage form should only be selected in ControlCheck when the medication is a continuous drip that a patient would receive, or a commercially available controlled substance IV bag. For other intravenous drugs like vials and syringes that are given as boluses to patients, please continue to use the Injectable form factor.

Some places you will see this name change reflected:

  • In the Medication Mapper workflow when mapping an unmapped medication identifier
  • On the Manager Formulary page when viewing the Mapped Medications table
  • On the Audit page when viewing an event summary for an infusion medication
  • In IRIS User Analytics when viewing data for a provider or department

Updates & Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with deep linking from the IRIS Dashboard to the Med Trends report. On the IRIS Dashboard, each user is given an IRIS score and a Detailed Risk Analysis breakdown that highlights each of the ControlCheck metrics, with Med Trends being a key metric. ControlCheck users can click on a user’s Med Trends score and should expect to be linked directly to the Med Trends report with that user highlighted in the graph for easy investigation.
  • Fixed an issue with System Benchmarks permissions for ControlCheck Users that did not have Manager User access.
  • Fixed an issue with the Date Range and Departments filter on the Audit page seen in some workflows.

Upcoming Features & Bug Fixes

Release 136 - Week of 01-03-23 - Happy New Year! ?

  • Additional enhancements to the Departments and Users filters to improve overall system performance on the Patient Care Audit page.
  • Enhancements to the Kronos Shift Analysis IRIS Report to prepare for customer beta testing.
  • Enhanced logic in the Pharmacy Module to properly reconcile invoices for bulk bottles. ControlCheck uses Medication Intelligence to automatically detect these bulk liquids and leverage package size data for the NDC to compare with the load event for the drug. For example, if a hospital orders a 30mL bottle of Morphine Sulfate oral liquid for their pharmacy, then ControlCheck will be able to auto-close the invoice of 1 bulk bottle from your wholesaler with a load of 30 mL of Morphine into the narc vault.
  • A fix to address the issue with mismatching event summary counts between the Audit page and System Benchmarks when viewing data at the IDN or System-level view.
  • A fix to ensure the Pharmacy Event Summary ID on the Pharmacy Audit page can be easily searched on the Open status tile for any date range.
  • Bug fixes to address issues with the Pending Patients link on the User and Medication Mapper pages that Manager users click to triage unmapped items in their queue.

Release 137 - Week of 01-17-23

  • Ability to calculate a full package waste across multiple waste transactions on a single event summary. Integrated waste is a common practice, especially in pediatric settings, and also pose a huge risk for diversion. Users that waste in this pattern don’t show up on the Full Package Waste IRIS report today because the waste spans more than one event. This enhancement will look at sequential waste events to add up two events and capture a full package waste by a user.
  • Enhancements to user matching logic to improve overall event reconciliation.
