Review Audit: Assignment Feature Update

In this release, we updated the Assignment feature to include all ControlCheck users in the list of names to be assigned. Previously, a user had to have access to the event summary via their security role permissions in order to be assigned to an event summary. This stipulation prevented Full Access users from assigning an event summary to a nurse manager because the event summary occurred outside of their department and their security role access. With this update, the assignment feature can be leveraged as a powerful tool for helping users focus their audit page review.

Today in ControlCheck security roles are scoped by department which means that a Manager user can give

User A (Nurse Manager of Department A) access to only see event summaries that occurred in Department A. This makes it challenging for high-level audit staff to assign open cases to nurse managers because if the event summary occurred outside of their department, then they cannot see it because of their limited security role access. However, non-Full Access auditors, particularly nurse managers and anesthesia-staff managers, are not just responsible for event summaries created within their departments; they are also responsible for variances created by their staff in other departments, ones they may not have access to.

To bring this change full circle, we have updated the audit page logic to include any event summary where the user is an active assignee in their view. That way, when an assignee views their Review Audit page, they can see event summaries they have access to via their security role permissions, and they can see event summaries that happened outside of their access scope but where they are the active assignee on the case. Users can also use the View Event Summaries Assigned to Me filter on the Audit page to further refine their Open audit queue.
