Features

Bubbles!

The ControlCheck team is excited to take our first customers live with our new event summary grouping logic. In Release 74, we introduced our customers to the new Bubbles logic and today we are eager to get this functionality turned on for all of our customers so we can improve your audit experience in ControlCheck. For more information on when your hospital is making the switch to Bubbles, reach out to your Solutions Consultant.

This enhancement will address the following:

  • Decreases the variance rate and the number of variances so a lower number of event summaries require review
  •  Decreases the percent of events involved in event summaries making event summaries less complicated to review
  •  Makes sure that providers are not associated to a variance where their set of events are not responsible for the variance

The Bubbles logic will treat each transaction (e.g. dispense, admin, waste, or return) as an individual event, or bubble. Our advanced grouping algorithm will aggregate the bubbles based on criteria such as date, patient name and MRN, and medication; each bubble contains these unique attributes. Bubbles closest to each other are grouped together and once the amount dispensed is equal to the amount administered, wasted, or returned, the system will freeze the event summary and reconcile it as closed by ControlCheck. When the system cannot find a bubble to group with, ControlCheck will group the events on an event summary within the traditional case cool-off period that your hospital has set. Those event summaries will be classified as a variance and will appear on your audit table. The ControlCheck Action Times report will show when providers have late documentation practices.
