System Benchmarks: Time to Admin and Waste Report

System Benchmarks are insights for users to monitor compliance in relation to other hospitals in their hospital groups or between departments in the same hospital. The release included the second report as part of System Benchmarks named Time to Admin and Waste. This report provides insight into how long providers in a given hospital or department are in possession of a controlled substance. It is imperative for our customers to be able to track how long providers are holding on to medications before administering or wasting. The first set of information in the graph view of this report will show our customers the average time in minutes that it takes providers in their hospitals or departments to administer a medication from the first dispense of that medication. The second set of information in the graph view will show our customers the average time in minutes that it takes providers in their hospitals or departments to waste a medication from the last administration of that medication. The Time to Admin and Waste report will allow customers to see when there is a specific hospital or department that is either meeting or exceeding any time frame constraints. For example, if a hospital has a policy that all medications must be administered within 60 mins of a dispense, this report will provide clear insight into whether that policy is being adhered to, on average.

Users can change the date range and view the data displayed in a Graph view or Table view. Each hospital can be drilled down further to view similar reporting at the Department level.

Note that the filters and time picker will determine the data that is counted in the report.

Navigate to the Time to Admin and Waste report by clicking Analyze > View System Benchmarks > Time to Admin and Waste (from the side menu)

Some things to note below for the Graph view:

  1. Name of the Hospital or Department will display.
  2. The first column of dials will show the user the average time, in minutes, between the first dispense of a medication and the first administration of that medication for providers in that hospital. At the bottom of the dial, the total event summaries that were used to calculate the average will be displayed.
  3. The second column of dials will show the user the average time, in minutes, between the last administration of a medication and the last waste of that medication for providers in that hospital. At the bottom of the dial, the total event summaries that were used to calculate the average will be displayed.
  4. The top filter will allow the user to filter the report to allow a drill-down on specific hospitals in a system or departments in a hospital. Given that the user is on the System view, they can filter by hospitals in the system; given that the user is on the Department view, they can filter by departments in the hospital.

Some things to note below for the Table view:

  1. The first column will display the name of the hospitals or departments selected by the user. The default view is to display all hospitals that the user has access to view (in System view) and all the departments that the user has access to view (in the Department view).
  2. Because this view is drilled down to the Department View, the user has the ability to filter on departments in the selected hospital. This filter is multiselect.
  3. Users can toggle to seamlessly switch between the Graph and Table views of this report.

We have also introduced the Hospital and Departments filters to the Documentation Accuracy report to allow users to filter by desired hospitals in a system or departments in a hospital.

Upgrades & Fixes

  • Improved the workflow that computes data for Analytics, allowing the data to process faster each night.
  • Fixed a minor bug in the System Benchmarks Documentation Accuracy report that was creating inaccuracies in the data counts due to null provider fields.
  • Fixed an issue that hindered new users from resetting their password.
