System Benchmarks
System Benchmarks are insights for users to monitor compliance in relation to other hospitals in their hospital groups or between departments in the same hospital. The release included the first report as part of System Benchmarks named Documentation Accuracy. There are many reasons why our customers purchase ControlCheck and use ControlCheck. One reason is the value that ControlCheck brings in detecting if medication is missing in the documentation. Most of the time, hospitals documentation rates come out to where 80-95% of controlled substance transactions (Dispense, Admin, Waste, Return) account for 100% of the medication and no medication is missing (Closed ControlCheck). This is providing insights into (1) the efficacy of ControlCheck to set aside where there is no gap in the documentation and close these transactions automatically (2) accuracy of staff documenting appropriately. In the situations where medication documentation is missing, ControlCheck gives users the tools to perform an investigation on those individual variances (Open). Users then have the choice to determine resolution of the missing documentation (Reconciled or Unreconciled). In the situation where users are Reconciling the transaction and have determined no real loss occurred, the documentation was inaccurate, however there was some external information that allowed the user to determine the resolution of the missing medication. To that end, the Documentation Accuracy report provides users with the efficacy of ControlCheck algorithms, the accuracy of staff practice, and the variance resolution risk.
Currently, this report needs to be turned on for hospitals and users through a Prod Support request. Look out for changes to that in the early part of Q2. As of this writing, Admins can see the data for these hospital groups by logging into any hospital in the group of OhioHealth, AHN, Sentara, and Providence/Swedish.
The dashboard is reached via the Analyze -> View System Benchmarks menu item. Users can change the date range and view the data displayed in a Graph view or Table view. The Table view has the option to view the data by Percentage or Number out of the total event summaries. Each hospital can be drilled down further to view similar reporting at the Department level.
Hospital Role Added to Account Permissions
We've been wanting the ability to define a user as a Nursing user, from a Pharmacy user for all sorts of reasons. One of them being for NPS. Well the team went a little further than that and added the ability to set a users Hospital Role within the Account Permissions page. This is a required field once a user accesses a ControlCheck user's account and must select from the following options when also updating the users Security Role: Pharmacy, Nursing, Anesthesia, Compliance, IT, or Other. This information will be exportable when pulling users for NPS surveying.
Upgrades & Fixes
- You should see a much-needed improvement to the performance of the Variance Trends report.
- Small tweak made to the Med Trends algorithm. Scores shouldn't drastically change, but will also likely not be the same as before for all users
