Features

Added 'Reconciled By' to Summary Report from Run Report

A common feature request for ControlCheck is to add the name of the user who reconciled an event summary into the downloadable Summary Report from Run Report. We are pleased to launch this update in our latest patch release. ControlCheck users and managers often look to the 'Reconciled By' value to determine which staff are working on audits for the week. ControlCheck does not currently offer any in-app reporting on who is performing audits and how often, but with this update, users can download the Summary Report and perform analysis on this data in excel.

To take advantage of this new feature, hover over the Analyze tab and click Run Report. Enter the desired filter criteria for your data (e.g. date range, drug, user, etc.) and click Run Report. When the desired data has loaded on screen, click Download Summary Report. Open the downloaded file in Excel and use column 'L' labeled 'Reconciled By' to perform the desired analysis.

Audit 2.0 IRIS Tab

The awesome new IRIS tab on Audit 2.0 got some updates in this release! We added an IRIS breakdown for all users on the event summary, including the Waste Witness. We also added caching to the data to improve the performance of the IRIS tab when loading scores. The way caching will work is it will store the results of the IRIS tab the first time the user loads it, so that way, the next time they load the tab on the event summary, the data is already stored and the system does not need to re-query and reload the data. This will enhance the performance of the IRIS tab.

Full Package Waste & Excessive Waste

We recently discovered an issue with the IRIS Full Package Waste report where waste events were not being counted if their unit of measure did not match the unit of measure of the package size of the ControlCheck medication on the event. For example, let's say an RN documented a 2mL waste of a fentaNYL 50mcg/mL with a package size of 100mcg. This 2mL waste would be considered a "full package waste" because the 2mL amount converts to 100mcg of fentaNYL with the given concentration and package size math; and we want to count that events towards that user's score.

To solve this issue, the Full Package Waste report (for both Nursing and OR modules) was updated to convert waste events in mL to mass (mcg or mg) so that they can be properly counted; or vice versa, all depending on the concentration and package size of the mapped med.

We also added a cutoff for 5 or more packages wasted on a single event to be considered "excessive" and filtered from the report. We are working on an update to the report UI that will allow users to filter on these excessive waste events and view them that way. This update will come in a later release.

We can do the following conversions on waste events for Full Package Waste (event_uom → package_size_uom):

  • mcg → mg
  • mg → mL
  • mL → mg (if and only if the concentration exists on the generic med - so likely multi-chems won’t have it)
  • mL → mcg (if and only if the concentration exists on the generic med - so likely multi-chems won’t have it)

Upgrades & Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with the scrolling on the Manage tab File Uploads page.
  • Fixed an issue with jumbled patient identifiers on the Pending Patients pages from various Manager Mapping pages.
  • Fixed an issue with events that were failing when trying to convert from mass to patch. We allow a patch to mass conversion but the reverse was failing so support for this conversion has been added in. This use case is encountered when the raw event data displays a patch event in the mcg or mg unit of measure (mass) but the med it is mapped to in ControlCheck has a package size unit of measure of 1 patch.
  • Fixed an issue with how patient identifiers were displayed on the new Audit 2.0 page.
  • Fixed an issue with Audit 2.0 IRIS tab that was missing the score for the Waste Witness.
  • Updated the formulary adapters to pull NDC in as a medication identifier so that Pharmacy medications (particularly Wholesaler meds) are properly mapped by the formulary service and to reduce the number of meds that need to be manually mapped by a user.
  • Updated the patient merge logic to only re-reconcile events that have overlapping dates for the patients. This will reduce the number of event summaries that are re-opened by re-reconciliation and reduce the load on the system; creating a performance benefit and a less invasive user experience.
  • Fixed an issue with copying and pasting values into the search bar on the new Audit 2.0 page.
  • Fixed an issue with scrolling on the new Audit 2.0 page.
  • Fixed an issue with missing graphs on the Labs pages.
  • Fixed an issue with the Formulary Upload tool; the Cerner files would error out past a certain medication in the formulary file and never finish uploading.
