Overrides Dashboard
Facilities with ADCs experience medication order overrides when a member of the patient care staff withdraws medications from the ADC before a pharmacist can review the medication order if a delay would harm the patient or if a patient experiences a sudden change in clinical status. The option to override is typically only used for emergency situations. As a result, facilities should define and approve the specific criteria to allow for medication overrides and specify which medication overrides should be allowed.
The Overrides metric identifies users whose override behavior is unusual as compared to their peers. This includes unusual medications that have had overrides, unusual locations where overrides have occurred, and unusual override reasons.
The Overrides dashboard will explore the aforementioned override scenarios and display data charts that illustrate trends in the following areas:
- Overrides by Nurse/Provider
- Overrides by Department
- Overrides by Medication
- Override Reasons
