Emailing Event Summaries
You can email an Event Summary in plain text to anyone. Remember that an Event Summary contains PHI data, so it is recommended to only send these emails to people who can view this PHI and to send on a PHI-compliant messaging system.
You will see a PHI-compliant reminder when you hover over the option to send the email. A reminder also exists in the body of the email so everyone is aware before sending the event summary that it contains PHI.
There is a character limit of 2,037 to send Event Summaries via email. This character limit is approximately 8 Events per Event Summary. You will receive a warning if event summaries contain more characters than the limit.
Email an Event Summary
To send an Event Summary via email:
- Click Email Summary on the event summary you want to send. Your email platform will open.
- Ensure that you are sending it to a PHI-approved recipient.
- Click Send.
Best Practice Tips
1. The email will contain PHI; ensure the email is sent over a secure or encrypted email.
2. There is a character limit of 2,037 for the email feature to work. This character limit is approximately 8 events per event summary. If event summaries contain more characters than the limit a message displays saying the event summary is too long.
3. If this feature is enabled for your hospital, all Full Access security role users will automatically receive the
permission.
