Features

New Investigation Permissions

There are a variety of different use cases and workflows that hospitals have adopted Investigation Portfolios to help solve. Many health systems have nurse managers that are in charge of opening and facilitating investigations on a monthly basis. There can be different processes but one process is to notify the Diversion Response team each time an investigation is opened. The Diversion Response team has different members from different teams that play different roles. Since Pharmacy is typically in charge of the medication use process, Pharmacy needs to be able to see and get notified of all investigations that happen in the facility.

ControlCheck today only has one Security Role Permission for Investigation Access - users either have access to Investigations or not. It can be frustrating to remember to have to add these users to each and every investigation and delays in this notification can put the organization and patient safety at risk.

With this update we now provide more granular permissions within Security Roles when it comes to access to Investigations within ControlCheck:

  • No Access - This is the same as currently not selecting Investigation Access permission, it would not allow the User access to the Investigate area of the application at all.
  • Investigation Admin - This permission will allow the user to see and make changes to any Investigation opened at the hospital. This is the “Super User” permission.
  • Investigation Owner - This permission will allow the user to open their own Investigations and be able to be added as collaborators to investigations.
  • Investigation Collaborator - This permission will allow the user to only collaborate (edit) Investigations, but not able to open them.
  • Investigation Viewer - This permission will allow the user to view all investigations, but not be able to make changes to any investigation. “Super User” level view without the ability to change the state of an Investigation.

Increase visibility and multi-disciplinary collaboration with new Investigation permissions.

❗ Upon release, Full Access users will be updated to have the Admin role. The Admin role provides access to all Investigations at the hospital. If this isn't ideal, Manager users need to update the security role for those users that should not be Full Access. Existing Security Roles with Investigations access will be updated to the Owner role. Any new Full Access user will have the Admin role.

Self-Service: Remap Meds

Manager Users! Big news - we’ve moved from Beta to GA on Manager users being able to split and re-map medications! Within your Formulary, you’ll be able to expand generic medications, see the medication identifiers mapped to that medication, and have the option to Unmap the med identifier so it can be mapped to a new medication. Hopefully this self-service tool provides faster resolution to any mapping issues!

Thanks Andi from Mass Gen for this idea - let’s check it off the list!: https://community.bluesight.com/discussion/500/allow-a-specific-role-group-to-unmap-source-ids-alter-unit-conversion-tables-multipliers#latest

Save time, resolve med mapping issues on your own.

Improved Filter Interaction on Patient Care Audit Table

When using multiple filters on the Audit table, you need to wait for the page to load after each filter selection. The problem naturally increases when you know you’ve selected a parameter that will yield either blank or not the ideal results you are looking for until you select another filter. We wanted to improve this experience to help drive satisfaction for users interacting with the Audit table.

While this idea has come up before, it increased in significance and priority from feedback during our Variance Categories beta. Thanks to Lacey from the Barnes Jewish health system for sharing this idea!

We’ve added an “apply” button on the Patient Care Audit Table. As you adjust filters, you’ll now need to click “Apply” for the new search to be run.

Bulk Modify Security Roles and User Accounts

With the new Investigations Roles, modifying existing Security Roles and User Account permissions can be challenging to manage. We've made this process easier by adding bulk update functionality to Security Roles and Account Management.

Reduce repetitive tasks and update multiple existing Security Roles at once.

Quickly modify security roles for ControlCheck users.

Event Editor - GA release is imminent!

We will be moving from Beta to GA on Event Editor soon. In this release we took care of the following feedback from our Beta group:

  • Updating the auto-generated Note left in the event summary to be more clear.
  • Adjusting the Move and Cancel Buttons on the Event Editor page to always remain visible.

We anticipate going to GA the week of 10/23. Here is some of the planned communication:

Similar to Investigation Admin, any user that has Full Access security role will inherit the Event Editor permission. Manager users will need to update the security role for those users that should not have this functionality from Full Access.

Variance Categories - GA release is imminent!

We will be moving from Beta to GA on Variance Categories soon. In this release we took care of the following feedback from our Beta group:

  • Adding Custom Category Description to Manage and Audit Table Workflows.
  • Users can move event summaries from Closed Bluesight to a Variance Category.
  • Improved search in Variance Categories filter dropdown.

We anticipate going to GA on 10/30. Here is some of the planned communication:

Just because this is GA, customers don’t need to publish categories. GA just means Managers will have access to the manage page to setup their categories. Once they hit publish, they will put all hospitals within their health system in Variance Categories mode.

Category description will display as a tooltip on Manage tab and on Event Summary cards when a Variance Category has been selected.

Updates & Fixes

  • Updated hospitals grouping settings from 48 hours to 12 hours. This means ControlCheck would only auto-close summaries that are less than 12 hours. Previously, summaries can be auto-closed if the math adds up for events spanning 48 hours.
  • Another Community Idea addressed! https://community.bluesight.com/discussion/632/investigation-notes-post-when-pressing-enter
  • Minor UI update to change the hover color for buttons on 'A newer version...' banner.
  • Minor performance improvements to file processing.
