Gearing up for Variance Categories and Event Editor Beta Launch!

We’re still under construction and actively working to bring you two awesome new features! Below is the MVP (minimum viable product) functionality for Variance Categories and Event Editor in preparation for Beta Launch. Be on the lookout with an announcement in the community (community.bluesight.com) with more information on joining the beta.

In preparation for adding a new filter to the Audit page for Variance Categories, we’ve re-ordered the filters based on improved navigation and level of utilization. This is live with this release. Depending on browser zoom, users will now see an ‘arrow’ within the filter bar allowing them to see more filters.

Variance Categories

  • Added the ability to close an event summary with a Variance Category on the Audit and Run Report pages.
  • Ability to edit, remove, and change the Variance Category on an event summary.
  • Ability to create Categories for an entire Health System from one hospital without needing to manually create the category in each hospital in an IDN.
  • Ability to exclude events under a certain Variance Category from the Variance Trends IRIS report.
  • Ability to filter for Categories on the Audit table and Run Report. Category column included in Run Report downloads.

Event Editor

  • Ability to break down a single event summary in any status to multiple event summaries and/or create new summaries.
  • Ability to regroup patient care events across multiple generic drugs under the same equivalent drug (e.g. the ability to group a fentanyl Inj event with a fentanyl Infusion event).
  • Ability to filter for Edited Summaries on Run Report. Edited column, who Edited, and when included in Run Report downloads.

Upcoming Features & Bug Fixes (next release)

Release Oxycodone (151) - Week of 07-31-23

  • Gearing up for Variance Categories and Event Editor beta programs!
  • Allow Managers to split and un-map medication identifiers! One of our top support requests, this will be released as a limited and closed beta initially to validate our solution. Once we are confident in our solution, we’ll circle back with more updates!
  • Minor enhancements to Waste Networks
    • Reducing sub-scores to make the metric more understandable and usable (algorithm change only)
    • Removal of bottom “spider-web” referencing hospital network
  • Provider Identifiers update: when ControlCheck receives a new provider identifier for a given provider, and the identifier to their provider record so that the system always has the most up-to-date information about a provider and ensures that the most accurate provider is picked for a controlled substance event during processing.
