IRIS Analytics Overview

Analytics in ControlCheck

There are two areas of focus, or modules, for analytics: Nursing and OR.

We have separate analytics buckets for these two modules because of the difference in workflow practiced by providers in each area. The workflow for dispensing, administering, and wasting drugs in a nursing workflow is generally much shorter than a workflow of the same steps for perioperative care found in the OR module. Because of these differences, when your hospital was brought online, each module had its own settings and defaults for acceptable case timeouts and processing cutoffs. Therefore, the analytics need to be separate to compare only the cohorts within each module.

Both modules have the same list of tabs available for analysis.

Navigating to Analytics

Navigate to the Analyze tab in the main dashboard menu and then select IRIS Analytics in the drop-down menu. This will forward you to the IRIS Dashboard for Nursing. All dashboards available in the application are listed as separate tabs under each care area enabled at your facility.

Some dashboards reflect approaches or questions only relevant to one area of data coverage, while other dashboards will appear in both areas. All dashboards allow the user to drill down to a particular department, medication, or clinician for analysis, or look at trends within a larger peer group and across time. Within ControlCheck users are granted access to specific dashboards via the application's roles and permissions structure. Users with dashboard access will be able to both view and interact with the data. All dashboards available to the specific user will be listed as separate tabs.

Analytics Tabs & Side Navigation

Our new side Navigation Menu will appear affixed to the left side of the Analytics module. This will allow for easy navigation across different metric dashboards and allow for additional page space for the expansion of future IRIS features. This side navigation menu is collapsible and allows users to easily locate, expand, and minimize both the Nursing and OR tabs.

When accessing the navigation menu, you can easily recognize which metric dashboard you've selected as the name of the dashboard will appear in bold. In addition to expanding the Nursing and OR tabs, you can collapse the entire menu by selecting the blue carrot at the top of the menu. This will increase the size of the metric dashboard and provide more space on your screen allowing for a faster digestion of the data shown.

Navigating the OR Module
The articles in the Analytics section of the knowledge base are written from the perspective of a user utilizing the Nursing module; however, due to the similarity of ControlCheck's user interface, you should have no problem applying the same concepts while using the OR module.

New Filter Improvements (IRIS 2.0 Update)

We are implementing a new plethora of filters to standardize the user experience when filtering data within the Analytics module. For example, ControlCheck's global "primary filters" allow you to maintain your filter selections across the different metric dashboards providing a streamlined review of an IRIS user or peer group.

You can also avoid having to filter by the exact start and end date by utilizing our new single calendar date picker. It will allow you to select one of four predetermined data ranges (e.g., 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, 180 days) or select a custom date range.

Lastly. we have updated some of the secondary filters located on each metric dashboard. The filters we've changed have been redesigned to match the new look and feel of the aforementioned sticky filters.
